Steps down to The Donkey House
Look out for the signs from the centre of the village!

DIRECTIONS: Please do not turn off the main road to Pragmatefti village on either of the first two signposted roads! Instead, coming from Athens on the coast road, you reach a turn off left down to Sampatiki village (at a big right-hand bend). Three hundred metres past the Sampatiki turning, you will see a large lay-by on the corner to the left and, on the right hand side there are building materials (rocks, soil etc)… just before this, there is a signpost to Pragmatefti and this is a much better road to the village.

Go up to and through the village to where the road steepens and narrows markedly. Here, larger vehicles should park in the big car park down to the right. Smaller cars can continue carefully up the steep, narrow street for 150m to a small car park on the left. (See check-in instructions). From the small; car park, walk uphill for 20m to the church. Opposite the church, a small side street on the left leads to the end of the houses in 25m. Here is a sign and steps lead down to The Donkey House. Bring a torch if you’re arriving late.

If you haven’t got your own transport, we strongly recommend hiring a car for your visit.
If you can’t find dates that are available or want to stay for shorter periods, please get in touch as we might be able to accommodate you.

This is an overview of the main road that runs from Argos – Astros – Tyros – Leonidio. This is a snapshot of the final leg (the section from Tyros). Reach the village of Pragmatefti using the last turning (D) on the map (the small road shown in yellow).

The village and accommodation

This modernised village house is in a wonderful spot, within the Natura 2000 conservation area, and is nestled on a spur overlooking the mountains and the sea. The house is in a very peaceful setting, where you can unwind and relax, but also it’s a short drive to Leonidio with its shops, tavernas and bars. The studio is very comfortable with everything you need for a short or longer stay. Step out onto the patio area to eat your breakfast or evening meal. Just lovely!
We have WiFi access at The Donkey House and almost all the Bars and Tavernas in the locality have Free WiFi.

Once again, that wonderful view from the roof terrace!

The patio directly outside the Donkey House.

Pragmateftis is a quiet traditional village where you will find peace and tranquility. It is about 1.5km steeply uphill from the sea and from the main coast road, at an elevation 250m above sea level. The views are spectacular!
There is a small shop, selling basic supplies, in the village. It also doubles up as a very traditional cafeneio for coffee, beer and wine.
The nearest town, Leonidio is 12 minutes drive away.

We have a full Visitors’ Guide in pdf form that we will send you after you book.

Beaches

There are lots of wonderful beaches along the coast. Most have beach bars or cafes from the end of June to the end of October. However, in the off-season they are just as beautiful.
